Ham, Brie & Fig Jam Baguette

This is a simple sandwich that is big on flavor. Fig jam, sliced ham, and brie cheese – sweet, salty and creamy – are a killer combination tucked inside a crusty baguette. I like to make it ahead of time, cut it into portions then wrap it and pop it back in the paper baguette bag. Then I can take it on picnics, to the beach, or to watch a game.

Servings 8 3″ Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 2- foot long baguette
  • ½ pound deli ham
  • 6 ounce jar of fig jam
  • 8 ounces brie cheese

Instructions

  • Slice the baguette in half lengthwise so you have a long top and bottom.
  • Slice the brie cheese into thick slices, about 1/4 inch. Layer the ham on the bottom half of the bread, then top evenly with the cheese.
  • Spread the fig jam evenly over the top layer of bread. Place it on top of the lower half, and either wrap up and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve, up to 4 hours, or slice and serve. If made ahead of time, bring it back to room temperature before serving.

Notes

* This sandwich is great warm, too. Simply wrap in aluminum, place in a warm (about 275 degree) oven for 10 minutes.
