Watermelon Lemonade

You’re ten minutes and three ingredients away from a refreshing and flavorful summertime sipper. The real thing, made from real fruit and citrus, is so much better than anything that comes out of a plastic bottle. Depending on the sweetness of your watermelon, you may need more or less sugar. Taste and adjust according to your preference.

Watermelon Lemonade

Ingredients
 

  • 1 pound cubed watermelon, which is about 4 cups
  • ½ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ¾ cups water divided use

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, heat ¼ cup water with the sugar, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside to cool.
  • Puree the watermelon in a blender. Strain using a wire mesh strainer. You should end up with 1 ½ cups watermelon juice (discard the pulp in the strainer or eat it up!)
  • Combine the watermelon juice, lemon juice, cooled sugar syrup, and remaining 1 ½ cups water. Stir to combine. Pour over ice to serve.
